Role Overview

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be assisting in the financial management and cost control of construction projects and be working under the guidance and with the support of senior quantity surveyors and commercial managers. This opportunity is ideal for someone looking to build their career in quantity surveying, with hands-on experience across the project lifecycle from procurement through to final account.
With over 30 years of experience in over twenty countries we are the specialists in the delivery of airside and landside aviation projects for the Military and Civil Aviation Sectors. We operate across all major airports in the UK and Ireland, including logistically challenging regional airports such as those in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland and the Channel Islands. Globally, we have successfully delivered projects in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean.
We’re also a key delivery partner to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), providing support to the UK Armed Forces at Ministry of Defence (MOD) bases throughout the UK and overseas.
What you’ll do
In this role you will be working under the guidance of a Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager and be assisting in ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while helping to maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers. The position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience whilst working towards professional accreditation.
Additionally, you’ll help to ensure the project and program contract, cost, quality and time targets are on target by supporting colleagues with cost and contract management, commercial support, compliance and best practice all while developing your professional skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
The role is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire and so candidates must have Right to Work in the UK. Additionally, candidates must pass a security clearance and background check prior to commencement.
What you’ll bring
Working towards or completed a Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (RICS-accredited preferred)
Relevant work experience or placement in the construction industry is advantageous but not essential
Willingness to work towards professional membership with RICS, CICES or equivalent
Some experience working in a quantity surveying or commercial support role, preferably in construction or infrastructure
Experience with standard forms of contract such as NEC or JCT
Familiarity with cost management systems and software or willing to learn
Right to work in Cyprus. Open to working overseas.
In addition, you will be able to demonstrable understanding of quantity surveying principles, cost control, and contract administration, construction methods and cost control procedures along with strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail. Your communication and teamwork skills should demonstrate your collaborative mindset and willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues.
